Three Generations of Leins

Roy Paul Lein
Mark William Lein
Matthew William Lein

Chama, River
Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico

Families that fish together are some of the happiest, most down to earth folks you could ever meet. Meet three generations of Lein men. Roy, pictured in the cowboy hat, started fishing as an 18 year old, while stationed on an Air Force base, located approximately 10 miles from downtown Tierra Amarilla. He learned the art from Bill Farris, who happened to own a ranch approximately 6 miles from the base. The two young studs in the cowboy hats are Mark Lein, pictured on the right and total stud, Matthew Lein, pictured on the left.

There is something about standing in an ice cold stream, in the middle of the New Mexico mountains that calms the spirit. You will find me there in approximately a week or so. While it will be snowing and freezing cold, that has never stopped me before. Just me, the black bears, mountain lions, coyotes and the ducks will be out there. The fish will have started to bite, even though the temperatures will still be quite cold. Can't wait to take that first 5 - 7 mile hike along the river to get to those far away, difficult to reach special places. Yeah!! I am going fishing in a week.
