Happy Halloween! The Search For The Perfect Pumpkin

Happy Halloween

The search for the perfect pumpkin took us to Burts Pumpkin Patch Farm. Actually Burts has become an annual event for the Lein family. Pictured here is Janice Lein in a sea of orange pumpkins. We love Burts Farm because they have Pumpkins of every size and shape.

Burts Farm is located in Dawsonville, Georgia. If you travel north on Highway 400 you would need to go just north of the outlet stores in Dawsonville, turn right on Highway 52 and drive approximately 14 miles towards Amicalola Falls State Park. Burts is approximately 1 mile before you get to the entrance of Amicalola Falls.

Which one do we take home? They all need a good home!

Some of these pumpkins weigh in at well over 100 pounds. Don't worry though, the folks at Burts will help you load it. If you need help unloading you may need to call my son, Matt, he is huge!! It took two guys with help from a special lift device to get it in my trunk. Matt snatched it out of the trunk with his bare hands and carried it 30 yards to the front porch and deposited precisely in it's designated place. Way to go Mattie...

If you need pumpkin carving assistance you need to speak with my beautiful daughter in-law Brandi who handled all the decorating and carving duties. Take a look at some of her handy work.

By the way, if you do go to Burts to buy your pumpkin, we have two more suggestions for you. First, take a few extra hours and do some hiking at the Amicalola Falls State Park. It is absolutely beautiful! In addition, take a 10 mile drive further down highway 52 and visit Hillcrest Apple Farm. You can buy wonderful apples by the bushel or do what I do, buy some fresh homemade apple fritters and just take care of your sweet tooth. Heat them up in the microwave, they are truly phenominal.
