Mule Deer Crossing The Chama River
Northern New Mexico is a truly awesome place. If you are a City Slicker, I highly encourage you to get into your car and take a drive out in the country. Go north from Albuquerque about 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours and you will be in some of the prettiest country you've ever seen. The greatest part is, you never know what you are going to see. Maybe you'll get lucky and catch two mule deer crossing a wild mountain stream, like those photographed in the picture above. This photo was taken at El Vado Ranch near Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico in early Spring.
Kiva Ruins - Bandelier National Monument New Mexico
New Mexico is known as "The Land of Enchantment." The state comes by it's name honestly. New Mexico is such an incredibly diverse state, offering up tremendous cultural diversity.
Ancient Indian Worship Grounds - Chaco Canyon New Mexico
Bandelier National Monument is only one of several locations around the state of New Mexico where you can see ancient Kiva ruins. Check out the photo above as it was taken at the Chaco Culture National Monument. This is one of the more well preserved native american indian sites in the state.
Native American Ruins - Pecos, New Mexico
Another great spot in New Mexico to take in some Native American culture is in the Pecos National Historic Park. Again, if you own a car, there is no excuse for not taking some time one of these upcoming weekends and taking a drive out into the New Mexico countryside. There is so much to see and learn. If you have kids, make sure that you take them by the park visitor and cultural centers to allow them to learn more about the native americans who built these sites. For more information about the Pecos National Historic Park you can check out the US National Parks website (http://www.nps.gov/peco/index.htm)
